Roderick Purcell Reid

Roderick Purcell Reid, son of the Ethel Mae and the Thomas Reid, was born June 18, 1960 in Iredell County. He transitioned peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Novant Hospice Care in Huntersville, NC.

   Roderick or Rick as he was affectionately known, attended North Mecklenburg Senior High School. He was a member of Reeves Temple AME Zion Church. Rick was self employed as a pipefitter.

   Rick had several hobbies including Reading, fishing, walking and he enjoyed playing the guitar and teaching others to as well. He taught several cousins and friends how to play.  Rick was a loving person with a big smile. He had his unique ways. 

   He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Ethel T. Reid; his son, Kareem Taylor; grandson Kaseem Taylor; sisters, Bernitha Springs (John) of Ocala, FL, Bernetta (Charles) of Davidson, NC; brothers, Thomas E. Reid of Statesville, NC and Everette A. Reid of the home. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Cheryl Knox.
