Rosa Mae Patterson-Sherrill, affectionately known as “Rosie, Mother Sherrill or Aunt Rosie” was born on December 28th, 1927 in Mecklenburg County to the late Hattie Dubose and Robert Beatty. Mother Sherrill took her final rest peacefully at home on March 19th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. James “Ted” Sherrill, sons: Larry, Steven, and John Patterson; four sisters: Lillie Bell Connor, Ethel Barringer, Jacqueline Barringer, Laura Rivens, and six brothers: Robert Beatty, Grover Beatty, Curtis Beatty, John Beatty, Arlington Beatty and Earnest Beatty. In addition, three grandsons and one great-grandson.
Mother Sherrill was a loving and God-fearing woman who cherished and loved everyone that she encountered. For many years, she was employed at Davidson-Cornelius Daycare where she diligently served and impacted countless children and families up until her retirement. As a faithful servant of the lord, Mother Sherrill was an active member of Bibleway Church #6 in Troutman, NC for 32 years. She served in a variety of roles, including her most recent role as the Senior Mother, which she faithfully served for many years. Mother Sherrill was loved by many as a result of her generosity, love, and words of wisdom to everyone that she encountered. When she was not showing love to her friends and family, she most enjoyed completing puzzles, word searches, bird watching and watching Family Feud.
Up until later in life, she also enjoyed cooking and baking for those around her, gardening, tending to her numerous animals throughout the years and fishing on the lake. The life and legacy of Mother Sherrill will forever be cherished as a result of the example she set on what it truly means to show that I love you, as well as run for Jesus as she would often sing to encourage herself and those around her. In her legacy, she leaves to cherish her fond memories; siblings: Katie Davis, Betty Jean Cornelius (Shack) and Pastor Terry Beatty (Betty Jean Beatty) all of Cornelius, NC. In addition, 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and god children that she loved dearly.
