Mr. Samuel Berry of Huntersville, NC passed away August 23, 2018 at Saturn and Nursing and Rehab. Center. He was born March 2, 1922 to the late Anderson Berry and Hattie Marshall Berry in Mecklenburg County. He was the youngest of seven siblings. Samuel enlisted in the army November 1, 1942 during WWII. Many in the Huntersville area jokingly referred to him as “MacGyver” because he could build and repair anything and sometimes invented things just by looking at a picture or by his vivid imagination. He retired from The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation but continued to work privately at his trades well into his senior years. Samuel leaves to cherish his memory five children. Samuel Berry Jr. (Patricia), Larry Eugene Berry, Renotti Hollen (James) all of High Point North Carolina. Kenneth Benard Berry of Huntersville, NC and Hattie Mae Berry of Charlotte, NC; Eight grandchildren; Eight great grands; and 6 great great grands. Services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church, Huntersville, NC. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to service.
