Mr. Samuel Sherrill was born to the late Robert and Lola Mae McCain on May 2, 1936 and was raised in Davidson, NC. He was called to his heavenly home on January 1, 2021.
Sam was a long-time employee of Reeves Brothers in Cornelius, NC where he retired after more than 40 years. He later worked for Hoke Lumber in Davidson until 2008 when he lost his eyesight.
Everyone in the community knew who Sam was. They knew him as the man always cutting grass and washing cars.
Mr. Sherrill is preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Robert McCain; his three brothers, Willie Cornelius, Lonnie McCain, and Charles McCain; his grandson, Condrick Sherrill, and also his best friend Clarence Howard.
Sam leaves to cherish his honor and memory to a devoted loving family. His devoted sons and daughters; Vernon Gabriel (Sharon), Milton Sherrill, Gwen Sherrill, Sylvan Sherrill, Sammy Sherrill (Ashley), Timothy Sherrill (Hazel), Rhonda Sherrill, Zina Sherrill, Charles Sherrill (Owinza), and the mother of his children, Shirley Black Sherrill; two brothers, Earl McCain (Phyllis) and Jerry McCain; six sisters, Emma Mae Carr, Maddie Clark, Dorothy Reid, Jacqueline Brandon, Mary Brandon (Bobby), and Libby Norris (Glen). Known as Pa by his 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He also leaves his favorite nephew, Daniel Clark, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
