Ms. Shannon Renee Sloan was born June 5,1966 in Iredell County, to the late Paul A. Sloan and Georgia P. Sloan. Her parents settled in Troutman NC (Shinnsville) where Shannon was born one of eleven children. Her earlier years were spent playing with nieces, nephews and childhood friends and attending church services with her family at Shinnsville United Church of Christ.
Her siblings are Harry Winford (deceased), Robert Harris (Buck) Mooresville NC, Dwight Sloan ( Mooresville NC), Elaine Sojourner (Sam) Spartanburg SC, Sheila Sloan(deceased), Sherry Stewart (Salisbury NC), Sharon Harris(Charles) Oakland CA, Shirlyn Heilig (Salisbury NC), Shelby Sloan (Arcadia FL), Paul Steve Sloan(Penny) Greensboro NC. Shannon is the aunt of a host of nieces and Nephews whom she loved dearly.
Shannon shared her life with partner of 38 years, Mr. Rodney V. Ramsey; she is the mother of two daughters Diana Denise Sloan ( Statesville NC), and Porchea Renee Sloan ( Charlotte NC). She is the grandmother of two beautiful grandchildren that she helped to raise; Xavion D’ongalique Sloan and Anisah Ilivia Sloan (Statesville NC).
Shannon Renee Sloan was a graduate of South Iredell High School class of 1985. She was already a mother therefore; she immediately started her life in the services industry. Shannon was known as a busy body and was always willing to be of assistance when she could. She was a wonderful homemaker and very particular about her cooking and cleaning. Shannon was known for her awesome broccoli casserole, always requested cold slaw, and tasty pot of chitterlings for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There was a running family joke that their home was always a place for a good cup of Kool-Aid and that the house was clean enough to eat off of the floors.
Ms. Sloan was employed by Goodwill Industries (Williamson Rd, Mooresville) where she had befriended many of her co-workers and those shopping within the establishment. Shannon had a work history which included employment at Food Lion (East Broad Street, Statesville),Pactive Evergreen (Mooresville), along with restaurants in the surrounding area.
Ms. Sloan enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with her large family. One of her favorite things to do was attend church services and events with her daughters at Next Level Ministries, Charlotte. Her downtime was spent doing word search puzzles, snacking on sunflower seeds, popcorn or ice-cream while watching her favorite T.V shows; The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke. Shannon had a personality that drew people to talk with her. She was known to be a loving, sweet, helpful women but if you were not her cup of tea, you were sure to know of it. People loved to “cut up with her” and she was known to be funny in her own respect.
