Sherman Waddell Burton, Jr., was born February 28, 2950 and departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at home.
Sherman Waddell Burton, Jr., devoted husband, father, brother, and friend loved life and lived it fully. He loved God, gardening, family, friends, fishing, football and good food. He had a fun-loving, strong outgoing spirit that we all loved and will miss.
Sherman Waddell Burton, Jr., a 1968 graduate of North Mecklenburg High School, was employed over 30 years for ELOX util the company relocated, and from there Waddell took on other work at Ingersoll Rand, YMCA, and side jobs to support his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: the late Mr. Sherman W. Burton, Sr. and Mrs. Dora Elizabeth Berry Burton; a brother, Cornell G. Burton and sister, Inez Carr.
Waddell is survived by his lovely wife of forty-nine years, Mrs. Wanda C. Burton of the home; children: Sherman Waddell III (Nicinia) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Chavis K. Burton of the home, Kendrick L. Davidson of Wheeling, West Virginia, Clifford D. Davidson of the home, and Carlesha D. Burton of the home. Two brothers: Gavin Louis Burton of Cornelius, NC, and Charles W. Burton (Sandra) of Lincolnton, NC; sister, Ivory Daniels. Thirteen grandchildren, one great grandson; honorary son, Mr. Marlon Bright. Aunts: Cornelia Henderson of Huntersville, NC, and Elizabeth Tate of Charlotte, NC. Uncle, Hugh Berry (Dorothy) of Charlotte, NC, and a host nieces, nephews and cousins.
