Ms. Shirley Johnson, 81 was born on October 2, 1939 in Iredell County, North Carolina to the late Lucille P. Johnson and Silas Johnson (Lolena Johnson, Step-Mother). She departed her life on July 7, 2021 at The Citadel Mooresville Nursing Home. Her struggles, pain and suffering came to an end. We give thanks to God for the time He allowed to have her with us.
She attended Dunbar School. She spent over 30 years at Burlington Mills, Mooresville, NC. However, later on she worked at Davidson College until she retired.
She was a life member of Bethesda AME Zion Church where she was a part of the Missionary Department, served on the Stewardess Board, and was a member of the Bethea Gospel Singers.
Shirley was known for someone that loved to dress, loved her jewelry, and was known as "Chief" not only in her family but to some of her children's friends as well. Lastly she was "real". She said what she meant and meant what she said.
She was also preceded in death by a son Gregory (Dickie) Johnson, Siblings Sarah Johnson, Hugh H. Johnson, Mildred Johnson, & Mary Johnson and a Special Niece Donna Reid.
She leaves to cherish precious memories five children Randy Johnson (Cosonya) of Cornelius, NC, Robin J. Davis (Tony) of Davidson, NC, Lorrie Johnson of Statesville, NC, William D. Williams of Gastonia, NC, James Johnson (Jana) of Huntersville, NC . In addition she is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, a Special Niece Rossiland Westmoreland, and Special Grandson Randy Renard Griffin whom she helped raise, a Sister-in Law, Betty Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We would like to express appreciation to the staff of The Citadel Mooresville Nursing Home for their services during our Shirley's stay and passing.
