Mr. Tarik Omari Ruffin, age 46, was born in Queens, New York, on December 28, 1979, to Timothy Ruffin and Hallie Ritchie Ruffin.
Tarik departed this life on May 28, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with an extended illness.
He is survived by his loving parents, Timothy Ruffin and Hallie Ruffin of Concord, North Carolina; his devoted sister, Zakia Ruffin of Charlotte, North Carolina; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended relatives, friends, and loved ones who will cherish his memory.
Tarik graduated from Concord High School in 1997 and went on to attend North Carolina State University. He had a passion for music and especially loved practicing and playing his bass guitar. In the summer of 2000, he proudly marched with the world-class drum and bugle corps Carolina Crown, playing euphonium, an experience that remained a cherished part of his life, which reflected his dedication, discipline, and passion for performance.
He spent several years living in California during the late 2000s before eventually returning to North Carolina, where he most recently resided in Concord and Charlotte.
Tarik was a caring son, loving brother, and loyal friend. He possessed a remarkable knowledge of science fiction, comic books, and the Star Wars universe, and he always enjoyed sharing comic book backstories, along with movie and television recommendations, with those around him. His warm smile, quick wit, and kind heart could light up any room and made him a joy to be around.
Though his absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, the memories he created and shared will remain for everyone who knew him. Tarik will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“We loved you, but God loved you best.”
