Theodore McCorkle, born on December 4, 1960, in Statesville, NC, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Charlotte, NC. He was the beloved son of William McCorkle and Thelma Elizabeth Sharpe.
Uncle Ted, as we like to call him or Teddy by others, will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his son LeQuient Troutman, daughter Shaneil Troutman, sister Ronda M. Starks, sister Lafreida A. McCorkle, brother Earnest Strickland, nieces Tiffany Starks, Rayshell Thrasher, Rasheedah Thrasher and nephew, Brent Starks. Also, with love, his four grandchildren Ny’likk Troutman, Emyija Mills, LeQueint Troutman Jr, Shyla Troutman, four great-grandchildren, extended family, and a host of friends, new and old.
Theodore was a hardworking man with a talent for craftsmanship. Throughout his life, he worked diligently and skillfully with his hands. He had traveled the country far and wide, working various jobs, including a skyscraper window cleaner, electrician, and landscaper, to name a few.
Alongside his many jobs, he had a talent for storytelling and comedy. He had a natural ability to connect with people and cherished sharing his countless adventures through captivating storytelling. That man had some stories! You would often wonder if they were true, because some seemed too hard to believe. But you would listen nonetheless, with big eyes and clear ears, just to make sure you weren’t missing anything.
You can say that having a sense of humor “runs in the family.” We all like a good laugh, even if we are entertainers and it was always good to see him. It was known to have the two C’s around when he came- candy and coffee, no cream necessary. He was adventurous in his own way as he loved motorcycles, wrestling and basketball, and of course, dogs!
Theodore McCorkle will be remembered with love and gratitude for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. A man true to himself, one not afraid to try new and different things and one that didn’t let negative circumstances define him, not even cancer. May the good memories of Theodore McCorkle live on. He will truly be missed.
