Theodore Winford Jr., 81 of Cleveland, North Carolina, departed his life Thursday, January 15th at his home. He was born to the late Theodore Winford Sr. and Olena Winford on September 16, 1944. His wife, Geraldine Olivia Winford predeceased him in April 2021. His siblings, Willie Jean Winford Harris and Mamie Winford Hooper, also predeceased him.
He was known as “Ode”, “TH”, “T” and “Teddy”. Mr. Winford was a graduate of Unity High School, Statesville, N.C. After high school Mr. Winford moved to Brooklyn, New York where he held multiple positions in the meat industry. More recently, he was employed part-time at Food Lion, Cleveland, N.C. During his spare time Winford provided floor treatments for his clients. He was an active participant in Senior Nutrition site program at Third Creek AME Zion church, Cleveland, N.C.
He is survived by his children: Kimberly Smith (Ivan) of Indian Head, Maryland, daughter; Jamie Winford (Gwen), Greensboro, North Carolina (son); and Erika Winford of Boynton Beach, Florida, (daughter). Deborah Fleming of Cleveland, N.C. (sister- in-law); William A. Lyerly, Whispering Pines, NC (brother-in-law)and Thomas Holloway of Salisbury, N.C. (brother-in-law).
He is survived by his grandchildren: Cecelia, Smith, Alexander Smith, Nyshkia E Winford, Julian Winford, Aaliyah Belser, Gorgeous Copeland, Ariel E Winford. He is also survived by Great grandchildren: Gabriella, Legacy, Xariah, Shai’La. Survived by nieces and nephews: Anthony Wayne Ellis, Chauncey Davidson, Deisha Davidson. Nieda Holloway Stubbs, Anthony Holloway, James Swain, Denise Swain, Deborah Hooper, Sandra Hooper, Amar Bey, Linda Howell, Carolyn Parker, Herbert Harris, Gloria Harris, Fredrick Harris, Barbara Saddler, Michael Saddler, Pamela Ingram and a host of other relatives and friends.
