Tony Jerod Martin II (“TJ”) was born on November 17th, 1983, to Tony Jerod and Sonya Barnes Martin.
He transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Center in Fort Mill, SC.
Tony was baptized at Reeves Temple A.M.E Zion Church in Davidson, NC. He participated as a Junior Usher, Buds of Promise Juvenile Missionary, and the Honorary Youth Missionary programs.
Tony graduated from Garinger High School on June 7th, 2002. He participated in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) where he focused on citizenship, character, and leadership development. He attended Fayetteville State University where he focused on Business Administration. He later became an employee of Concentrix Corporation where he was a trainer for all employees entering the workforce. He was recognized as a top performer with his photo displayed at the company entrance.
Tony was a loving, caring, and faithful son, brother, cousin, and friend. He was known for his smile and caring heart for others. No matter the occasion, he spread laughter that always put a smile on your face. He was an avid football fan and loved the Las Vegas Raiders. He also loved traveling with family and friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his sister Brittany; his maternal grandfather Percell Wade Barnes; his bonus grandfather Robert Andrew Marks; and his paternal grandparents John Zelly and Remedios Martin.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories; Tony Jerod and Sonya Barnes Martin; and his brother Christopher Jared Martin, all of Charlotte, NC; his grandmother Johnsie Marks of Charlotte, NC; his bonus grandmother, Marie Barnes of Winston-Salem, NC; his godmother, Alisa Brooks (Charles) of Williamsburg, VA, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends
