Virginia Carr Sloan was born April 2, 1933 in Huntersville, NC to the late Dewey and Lillie Carr. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
Virginia was a proud graduate of the class of 1951 at Torrence Lytle School. At an early age, she joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed faithfully serving as an usher and a dedicated member. Virginia was employed by Carmel Country Club and retired after 45 years of service. She loved bowling, playing cards at Betty Rae Center, planting flowers in her yard and spending time with her family.
Virginia was married to the late John Lindsey Sloan Sr. She was preceded in death by two sons: John Lindsey Sloan Jr. and Milton Dewey Sloan Sr., one granddaughter, Mercedes A Sloan, four brothers: Richard Carr, Murray Carr, Harry Carr and William Carr, and three sisters: Ethel Grier, Annie Parks and Betty Carr.
Virginia leaves to cherish her fond memories one daughter Denise Sloan Harvell (Ivy Sr), one son Vernon Fitzgerald Sloan both of Charlotte, NC, one sister Dorothy Jones of Flint Michigan, two daughters-in-law: Torri Sloan and Katie Sloan both of Charlotte, NC, two sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Sloan Bright and Vermell Carr, 7 grandchildren: Antonio Sloan of Dayton, Ohio, Shawan Gabriel (Keisha) of Winston Salem, NC, LaShyondha Clark (Jonathan), Ivy M. Harvell Jr (Angela), Milton D. Sloan II, Christopher L. Sloan, and Christian A. Sloan all of Charlotte, NC, 18 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
