Wanda, daughter of Naomi and AG Houston, was born February 15, 1956 in Mooresville, NC. She transitioned peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020 with family by her side.
Wanda was a 1974 graduate of North Mecklenburg Senior High School. She attended Kings College in Charlotte, NC until her little sister entered the picture and Wanda felt the need to be home to help take care of her.
Wanda was a faithful member of Davidson Presbyterian Church where she was active on the Usher Board, Deacon Board, Trustee Board, and she also served on the Homecoming Committee. She was always willingly to help out where she was needed.
As an adult she was a loyal employee serving many years at Food Town (now Food Lion), Magla Products in Mooresville, and Reeves Brothers. She finally settled in at Wendy’s where she became manager. Many neighborhood kids that worked there with her learned fast that Ms. Wanda “did not play”! She expected you to do the job right and do it well!
Wanda’s passion was cleaning. She loved to clean and took great pride in her work!
Wanda was greeted with open arms in her transcendence by her parents, Naomi & AG Houston, brother, Anthony Wilson; sister, Margaret Young; and close first cousin- sister, Inez Carr.
She leaves to treasure her memories her daughter, Calandra Houston; grandson, Nikolis Miller; sister, Tonda Houston-Slade (Keith); brothers, Rafford Miller and Ronald Stinson (Marie); special cousin-sisters, Ruby Johnson (Nathaniel); Tara Anderson (Geoff); Leslie Caldwell, a niece, Logan Slade; great nieces Reva Davis, Taylor Anderson and Shakiya Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins – as Wanda LOVED all and had a special relationship with each!!
