Wayne Patterson Jr. Obituary

May 31, 2025 was just an ordinary day for some; but on that day the Lord whispered to his servant Wayne Jr. it’s time to come home.  Wayne Nelson Patterson Jr. entered into this world in Mecklenburg County on December 28, 1977. He was the son of Wayne Nelson Patterson Sr. and Christophia Harvell Patterson.

He received his early education in Mecklenburg County and graduated from Garinger High School with the Class of 1996. Upon graduation he started a career in trucking. He drove for many companies like Hunters Farm, Maola Milk, Miller Beer, and U.S Foods Service all out of Charlotte, NC. He later purchased his first tractor trailer and started moving freight over the road for Saddle Creek in Harrisburg, NC. He was able to later purchase a second tractor-trailer and started his own business, Patterson Transportation Company. Wayne had a passion for trucking and would be on the road for weeks or days at a time.

Wayne was a talented soul with multiple hobbies that he was very passionate about. One of his hobbies included Cycling. He once road his bicycle 200 miles from Charlotte, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC in support of the battle against Multiple Sclerosis. Music has also been a big part of his life since he was a young boy. He played the Keyboard, Lead Guitar, Base Guitar, and the Acoustic Guitar. At one point Wayne was even a part of a band. He also loved to sing and record his own music this was a favorite of his where he would record himself singing on an app called Smule. He loved a variety of music, but what really won his heart was Country music. And let’s not forget about the exciting Bowling nights with his family and friends, this would sometime be the highlight of his week. He always came out on top with the highest score – he had a curve ball like no other. His brothers Christopher and Omari were no match to Wayne.

During Wayne’s early years growing up at Union Bethel Church he was a great participant in multiple areas. He was a Youth Usher, a member of the Buds of Promise, sung and lead songs in the Youth Choir, and played Base Guitar for the music department. He was now attending The Factory Church in Concord, NC.

Wayne was a gentle and humble man with a bright smile and hearty laugh. He loved people and never met a stranger. People were often drawn to him like magnets. He enjoyed watching NASCAR. As a Charlotte native he heavily supported our very own Carolina Panthers no matter what the outcome. Wayne was blessed with the opportunity to meet the Carolina Panther’s Quarterback Brice Young, Coach Dave Canales, and other players.

Like many modern love stories, Wayne went looking for love on dating sites. And while there he found just that; he saw a pretty girl by the name of Ashley Kuda. Wayne and Ashley made their relationship official on October 11, 2010. They both knew that they were meant for each other. So almost 7 years later, on July 22, 2017 they decided on forever and got engaged. They wasted no time; Wayne knew he had met his soulmate and on December 3, 2018 he married that pretty girl he saw on the dating site. Two years later they had their first and only child Wayne Noah Patterson. He brought so much more joy to their lives.

As you can see Wayne was loved by many, and he leaves to cherish fond memories of his life to his loving wife, Ashley K. Patterson; his son, Wayne Noah Patterson; his parents Wayne N. Patterson Sr. and Christophia H. Patterson of Huntersville, NC. He also leaves two brothers, Omari S. Patterson, and Christopher J. Patterson, both of Charlotte, NC; parents in law, Daniel and Carol Kuda; sister in law, Stefanie Zambrano (Julius), brother in law Jason Kuda (Emily). A host of nieces and nephews; Caleb Christopher Patterson, Kingston S. Patterson, Aaron L. Zambrano, Austin J. Zambrano, Adelina G. Zambrano, Savannah R. Kuda, and Jason D. Kuda Jr. He also leaves his grandma, who always told him to treat people the way you want to be treated, Geneva P. Harvell; his best friend DeWayne Washington, and host of special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
