Missionary Wilma Sturgis, daughter of the late Willie E. Sturgis Sr. and Mary A. Patterson Sturgis was born January 21. 1969 in Mooresville N.C. at Lowrance Hospital. Wilma departed this life on August 29, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville N.C. in the presence of family. We lost a loving and devoted family member, but Heaven gained another angel. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Mary Sturgis, her brothers Ray Sturgis, Gilbert Baker. Her two sister’s Margaret Leach, and Carrie Adams, two nephews Eric Sturgis and Keith Adams.
Wilma was a graduate of South Iredell High School and was an employee of Parkdale Industries, and Carolina Mills. She joined New Beginnings Church of God where she served as a devoted member, and worker. She was president of the usher board and served as a missionary. She was a part time drummer, a faithful choir member, and was a member of the kitchen committee. Wilma had a support team at New Beginnings where she was served by Evangelist Barbara Smith, and Mother Betty Joe Similton, and Mother Della Leach.
Wilma Loved Jesus and her family, she always showed her support in all ways possible, she was a caretaker her mother Mary for 4 years. She kept the younger generation of her family on their toes as she told them the facts of life. She was a sweet and humble person, but if you got out of line, she had no problem letting you know, those who really knew her understand what we mean. (the knife) her younger days.
She is survived by one brother Wille Sturgis Jr. (Cynthia) of Statesville N.C., a sister Wille Roseman (Bishop Gene Roseman) of Salisbury N.C., a devoted brother n law Henry Adams of Mooresville N.C. a foster sister Jacqueline McDonald (Sean) of Statesville N.C. a devoted nephew Rodney Sturgis and a devoted niece Katrina Adams. Wilma aided in the rearing of Corey Baily, Erika Mills, Dontrez and Kayla Patterson. Other nieces and nephews who will cherish her memories are her nephews Willie Sturgis the 3rd, Jameason Carr, Cedric Carr, and Larry Thompson nieces Tasha Maxwell, Sondra Roseman, and Sylvia Goodes. Keita and Janae Adams. Two special friends Millicent Carpenter and Debra Bines.
